Our primary mission is the welfare and caring of survivors and our secondary mission is Holocaust Education. The Survivor Mitzvah Project’s Holocaust Educational Archive is the only one of its kind in the world, focusing on the The Holocaust in the East – the untold story of the Holocaust in Eastern Europe.

Over 500 hours of video and tens of thousands of photographs and handwritten testimonies tell the story of the 2.7 million (nearly half of the 6 million who were killed), and the unimaginable and heroic experiences of those who survived. These extraordinary stories of heroism and betrayal, love and loss, life and death, with have an impact on Holocaust Education far into the future. Some survivors fought as brave partisans in the forests, some fought with the Cossacks or the Polish Army, some ran from the Einsatzgruppen, the mobile killing squads, which fanned out across Eastern Europe killing every Jewish man, woman or child in their path and then torching those villages and moving on to the next town, the next massacre. The survivors tell us of strapping their children on their backs and swimming across rivers that were ablaze with burning fuel in order to escape the mass killings, or of being herded into Synagogues which were locked and set on fire, or hiding underground, or living under assumed identities or experiencing the horrors of little known concentration camps such as Pechora and Koldyma. Each story represents a part of history that had never been told before.

The Survivor Mitzvah Project’s Holocaust Educational Archive is a new, contemporary way to teach the Holocaust and too teach tolerance for all races and religions using new technologies in syn with the digital age. We need your help to fund this archive to make it available to a global audience in an effort to build a world free of discrimination and hatred and work together towards a kinder, more compassionate world population. We need your help now, because time is running out to record more of these survivors on video. This is the survivors’ legacy to future generations and we must make certain every survivor gets to tell their story.

The Survivor Mitzvah Project’s Holocaust Educational Archive contributes to an important dialogue on social justice, tolerance for cultural differences, an appreciation of human commonality, and a warning to confront evil wherever it takes hold.
